So this is a repost, but the first post was from my dad and he doesn’t know the whole story behind this giraffe.
Anyway, I did this piece sophomore year of high school using prismacolor pencils (my favorite). It is a lot of my friends and family’s favorite piece of mine and I will say I am pretty proud. My class had gone to the zoo for the whole day on a field trip and were instructed to take pictures of the animals to get a reference photo to eventually draw. Well the sad story is, I never got to go to the zoo that day because of a band event happening the same day, and when you’re in band, band takes precedence over everything else. So the next day after everyone was done reminiscing how awesome and fun the trip was, I told my teacher I needed a reference picture. She let me look through hers and some of the other students and I see this one of this close up of a giraffe. It had a weird bluish shadow on the face and a smirky look on its face and I knew it was the perfect picture. Now something you should know is my mom loves giraffes and I had wanted to give her this piece as a Christmas gift. However, because of the sheer amount of time and effort and hours of pain I put into it, I never gave it to her until after the school art show after school had ended. To this day, it is her favorite and she keeps it as her lock screen on her iPad.
